If you're importing goods from overseas there is a high chance that you could be overpaying duty as incorrect classification is very common. We’re here to help you recover overpaid duty.
Here's a simple introduction to our duty review process, covering common initial questions we receive. Please do get in touch if you'd like to know more.
Step 1: We remotely interrogate your HMRC declaration data
Step 2: Research product specifications working closely with the importer and suppliers
Step 3: Identify accurate tariff classifications for your current and past products
Step 4: Using our expert knowledge & experience, we challenge existing practice for your benefit
Step 5: Submit a duty reclaim to HMRC on your behalf
We have retrieved up to 25% of a client’s total three year duty spend available for recovery in the past. As you’d expect, this will vary from business to business and we will be able to give you a better indication of this after an initial consultation.
All our reviews are conducted on a results-based fee structure – meaning that our fee ensures that we, in fact, don't cost your business anything, we simply take an agreed percentage of what we recoup for you.
The reviews require very limited input, time and information from you – a simple authority letter & agreement to carry out a review on your behalf and contact details for your freight forwarder is all we need. We have the knowledge and expertise to progress.
The majority of our customers fully understand the customs and duty process, many have their own internal import specialist teams. What we bring to the party are the tools, time and highly specialist skills to carry out the forensic reviews at a level far beyond simple tariff code checking. We look at thousands of pieces of information, sifting through precedent, changes to legislation and regularly challenge current practice. Our forensic approach and processes ensure our success even in ‘well trodden’ or ‘tightly managed’ areas, where others may have been unable to recover overpaid duty previously.
